Speaker: Lois Abromitis Mackin, Ph.D.
Titles: Researching American Military Ancestors: an Overview.
Biography: Lois Abromitis Mackin, Ph.D., is a professional genealogist focusing on American and English research. Lois writes for Minnesota Genealogist and The Septs and teaches about genealogical records and methods. She is a Past President of the Northland chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists, a former DAR registrar, and current registrar for the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Minnesota.
Abstract: From the American Revolution to World War II and Korea, about 25 million Americans served in America’s wars. The military records they left provide information not only about them but also about their family members. This talk will provide an overview of the major kinds of records available and how you can access them to learn more about your family history research.
